Do you charge surge prices during peak hours or bad weather?
No. Royal Carriage does not use surge pricing under any circumstances. Rush hour, 2 AM, snowstorm, holiday weekend, Super Bowl Sunday — the rate you see at booking is the rate you pay. Every time. This is a deliberate policy, not a marketing claim. Our clients book in advance precisely because they need a confirmed number, not an estimate that doubles when their flight lands.
Is gratuity included in the rate?
A 20% gratuity is standard and included in all quoted rates for airport transfers and point-to-point rides. You will not be prompted for a tip after the ride. For hourly charters, gratuity is included in the hourly rate as well. The price shown is the price you pay — nothing added at checkout.
Are tolls included in the quoted price?
Yes. All Illinois Tollway charges are included via I-PASS. No toll surcharges are added at the end of the trip. If your route uses the Tri-State, the Jane Addams, the Reagan, or any other tollway — it is already factored into your quoted rate.
How much free wait time do I get at the airport?
Domestic arrivals at O'Hare and Midway receive 15 minutes of free wait time, measured from wheels-down on the tarmac (not the scheduled arrival time). International arrivals at O'Hare Terminal 5 receive 30 minutes to allow for customs and immigration. Beyond the free window, wait time is billed at $1/minute. Your driver tracks your flight automatically — they know when you land before you do.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made more than 2 hours before scheduled pickup are fully refunded with no fee. Cancellations within 2 hours of pickup may incur a fee equal to the base rate.
